How This List Is Built
Why certain ETFs appear on the Curated List of Top MonthlyPayout, and how names get added or removed over time.
I'm a full time dividend and income investing content creator, and building this list isn't a formula I plug tickers into. It's a reflection of where my attention, and the community's attention, actually is.
I invest heavily in dividend and income ETFs myself, so I have real, personal exposure to a lot of what shows up here. Beyond my own portfolio, I spend my days deep in the space: tracking new fund launches, following how issuers are structuring new strategies, and staying on top of what's actually moving in the monthly income ETF world. That's paired with a constant flow of input from the community I talk to every day across GrowthAtlas, WeeklyPayout, and the rest of the network β through the sites, comments, and DMs β about what they're buying, what they're watching, and what they want me to dig into next.
The names on this list are the result of all of that coming together. Some are funds I personally hold and believe are worth watching. Some are funds the community keeps bringing up. Some are newer or lesser known ETFs I think deserve more attention because of how they're structured or what they're trying to do. What they all have in common is that they pay monthly distributions and, in my judgment, are worth a spot on this page, whether that's because they're proven, because they're gaining traction, or because they're simply worth learning more about.
Why Names Get Added
A fund typically earns a spot on this list for one of a few reasons: it's a newer launch worth putting on investors' radar, it's gaining real traction or assets, it's structured in an interesting or different way compared to similar funds, or it's simply something the community keeps asking me about. There's no minimum asset size or fixed track record required. This is a discovery list as much as it is a ranking, so newer or smaller funds absolutely have a place here.
Why Names Get Removed
Funds come off the list when they stop being relevant to monthly income investors. That could mean the fund closed or was liquidated by the issuer, the strategy changed in a way that no longer fits what this list is about, a newer fund launched that does a similar job better, or interest and relevance from the community simply faded. This isn't on a fixed monthly or quarterly schedule. I revisit and update the list on an ongoing basis as the space evolves, not on a set timer.
Placement Is Not For Sale
This is the part that matters most, so I want to state it plainly:
- No fund can pay, sponsor its way onto, or purchase a spot on this list.
- Advertising relationships with issuers (shown as clearly labeled sponsor banners on this site) are completely separate from the editorial list itself and have zero influence on which funds appear, their ranking, or their placement.
- A fund being a current or past sponsor has never been, and will never be, a reason it's included on this list.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I pay to get my ETF added to the list?
No. Placement is editorial only and is never for sale, regardless of any advertising relationship.
How is the order of the list determined?
Once a fund is on the list, its position is sorted by dividend yield, pulled from the live data feed. That sort order determines placement within the list, not whether a fund is included in the first place.
How often is the list updated?
On an ongoing basis, as new funds launch and existing funds evolve, rather than on a fixed schedule.
Can I suggest a fund to be added?
Yes. Reach out at advertise@mrvn.me and it will be considered like any other name in the space.
